Somya Thakur is titled as Miss Wheelchair World India 2022- till now. She was the only finalist to be a representative of India. With her hard work, discipline and her innate enthusiasm she made India to be among top 5 in Miss Wheelchair World 2022 held in Mexico. Along with pageantry title, she is also an inclusive fashion model, HR professional in IT company, disabled activist, and a motivational speaker.

There were stories of action heroes and heroines, super heroes and heroines, or Cinderella and fairies, you don’t find stories where these characters are in wheelchair… This is what motivates Somya Thakur to be an inclusive role model sitting on wheelchair and to become someone to look up to also it inspired her to make a difference … a positive change in World.

She was awarded as Exceptional Woman of Excellence which she truly is as well as National Great Icon Award, Women Achievers Award and many other prestigious awards. She has Belonging to Himachal Pradesh and now residents in Chandigarh. She entered the fashion world and modelling with Guiness World Record Longest Fashion Show as a wheelchair Model in 2018. Soon after in 2019, she went ahead to become Miss Kozenoor Punjab India. As an active member in Rotaract Positive Abilities Club in Chandigarh, she helps in leading campaigns for disability, social work and works for the upliftment for differently abled people. It has been her aim to help people who are differently abled and not resourceful enough to make something out of themselves.

Despite her disability and then later met with huge setback car accident never stopped her to work towards her aim to make a difference and change negative perspective towards differently abled. She pursues modelling career alongside she has been equally active in academia and professional front and therefore now she is an HR professional in IT company also did post-graduation in MBA in IT & Telecom after graduating in computer applications from Punjab University, Chandigarh.

All her life, she has been an avid believer of equal opportunities for differently abled later as she had entered pageantry and modelling as platform or voic e to create awareness for disability and building inclusivity and work opportunities in fashion, pageantry and entertainment field.
